Having now been in contact with the Nationwide I can definitely confirm that is IS a proper number for the building society, just not one that you can return calls to. I was misled by the comments and complained to the bank... most embarrassing. Serves me right for believing everything I read on the internet!

Having just applied for a mortgage with Nationwide, I received 2 calls from this number which I missed. When I rang back a woman's voice said that it was from the Nationwide. Looking the number up on the internet, I now realise that it is a scam; but will be contacting the bank to find out how these people can access a Danish mobile number!

someone phoned and asked for a 'mr. costello'. as soon as i stated it wasn't me, they couldn't put down the phone quick enough.

It\\\'s an fraudulent company trying to get personal details of your bank account and scam you for money. As they have a women who follows up the electronic call it all sounds legit. It has been going on for 3 years and Nationwide have done nothing about it and when I contacted them I had mioxed responses which varied from concerened to couldn\\\'t care less. Not impressed. Asa the scam make you feel you need to settle a balance on a credit card and it is for a small amount @£100 it doesn\\\'t always raise suspicions. The authrities shpuld have this number blocked abd tell evetyone about it but it would apear Nationwide don\\\'t take such hoax set ups seriously!
